Voted Best TASTING SANGRIA IN AMERICA
Delicious and refreshing
The secret is out!
“The secret of my grandmother’s recipe is mandarin oranges. She liked her sangria to be naturally sweet and mandarin oranges provided the key element, along with some cinnamon. To bring this sangria to life, we use Syrah for the red wine, because Syrah brings a spiciness to the sangria that for me is so relevant, along with a deep color.”– Loco Lopez
Our Story
Loco Lopez is a sangria made by the third largest winery in the world, Concha y Toro (CyT) based in Chile. Sebastian Lopez, (aka Loco Lopez) a Chilean executive at CyT spearheaded the creation upon sharing an old family sangria recipe, created by his Spanish grandmother. All CyT winemakers were in agreement — the recipe was superior to all other sangrias out in the market place. Their affirmations were confirmed by the editors of The Tasting Panel who held a blind tasting of sangrias available in the US market, awarding 92 points to Loco Lopez for its rich flavors and vibrant colors, beating out all other top sangrias (February 2019). The Tasting Panel complemented Loco Lopez sangria highlighting its vibrant aromatics, red floral tones and delicately spiced fruit; a palate fresh and clean with notes of orange/tangerine, black cherry mango and blueberry.
Loco Lopez Sangria is made with a base of Syrah wine with spicy flavors infused from mandarin oranges and clove, key flavors which separate itself from the other sangrias currently on the market.
Concha y Toro is a leading wine producer based in Chile and is consistently ranked as one of the world’s most powerful wine brands with $1 Billion in sales globally, wines sold in 145+ countries and exports of 3 million cases to the US. Concha y Toro was founded in 1883 by Don Melchor, a Chilean senator and businessman, who launched the winery with noble grapevines imported from Bordeaux. Eduardo Guilisasti, a company director from 1957-1998 accelerated the expansion and modernization of the winery in the 1980’s, and the Guilisasti family has continued the legacy up until today.
